Ray Matheny

WOOSTER -- Raymond W. Matheny, 62, of Wooster, passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at West View Healthy Living.

He was born Oct. 15, 1950, in Clarksburg, W.Va., the son of Raymond M. and Lucille Snyder Matheny., and was a 1969 graduate of Wooster High School. He had been a truck driver for a number of years. Raymond had spent many happy years living in the Florida Keys. He had a great love of music and was a very creative and artistic person.

Surviving are a daughter, Dana (Drew) Holley of Bradenton, Fla.; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; stepchildren, Matthew Butcher, Nathaniel Butcher, Gina Butcher and Anna Baker; a brother, Bill (Bette) Matheny of Bend, Ore., sisters, Judith Miller of McMinnville, Ore., Joyce Bryerton of Sacramento, Calif., Debra (John) Hobbs of Brighton, Mich., and Pam (Vince) Giffin of Wooster; and many nieces and nephews.

Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Jean Nutter Matheny on Dec. 2, 2012; and his parents.

Memorial services will be Saturday, Feb. 16, at 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 621 College Ave., Wooster, with the Revs. Bruce Balentine and James Watt officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster, is assisting the family.
