William Dale Gerber Jr, 69, passed away Sunday July 18, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
Friends may call on Friday, July 23 from 10-11am at the Church of the Cross United Methodist at 5100 Cleveland Road in Wooster. A celebration of Dale's life will follow at 11am with Rev. Kris Patt and Pastor John Finn officiating. A private inurnment service will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date. As a bilateral lung transplant recipient, Dale held Lifeline of Ohio and Unverferth House close to his heart. Memorial contributions may be made to Unverferth House at 190 King Ave, Columbus, OH 43201 or Lifeline of Ohio at 770 Kinnear Rd, Suite 200, Columbus, OH 43212.
Dale was born July 27, 1951 in Wooster to the late William D. Gerber Sr. and Juanita Mae Imhoff. He married Pamela Kaye Haueter in 1977.  She survives.
Dale trained as a Heavy Equipment Operator in the US Army. He went on to a 40 year career in construction, working 35 years for Snyder Excavating Inc. and the remainder with Majestic Excavating.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, snow skiing, hiking, and foraging for morels with his family. Dale maintained many lifelong friends, several of whom he gathered with annually.  He also had a passion for riding his restored 1950 Harley Davidson Panhead and was a lifetime member of the American Motorcycle Assoc. and ABATE of Ohio.
He is preceded in death by sister Linda Sigler. Surviving in addition to his wife are children Will (Caitlin) Gerber of Hudson and Katie Gerber of Salida, CO. He is also survived by a sister Portia (Pat) Wilson and nephew Milan Sigler all of Wooster.
